Fan Girl
I've been a Jane Austen fan ever since I read the "Classic Literature for Kids" version of Pride and Prejudice at 10. I liked the book so much in fact that, upon realizing that I'd read the kiddy version and not the full adult version, I went and bough the unabridged version and read that as well. Yes... I was slightly fixated with the book. I've mentioned before that I'm strangely attracted to period romance novels written hundreds of years ago ... I can't help it!! D : I think I was born in the wrong era.
Back to the book. It's got elopement, misunderstandings, hanky panky, balls, dresses, and bitchy girls!! That and the fact that no body seems to have to work make it my dream world!! Since that first reading of the book I have been day dreaming about well.. =.= er... sorta you know... living in that world?? Not really being born there more like..being teleported there?
Now that you guys know about my little er obsession with being sent into a book...you'll understand why I was so happy to learn that there is in fact... a tv show that stole my idea!! Woohooo!!! It's called "Lost in Austen" and its the story of a normal 21st century British girl with a jack ass boyfriend (irrelevant -.- ) who suddenly finds Elizabeth Bennett in her bathroom. Turns out...she can get transported into Pride and Prejudice through a door located in her shower.
ITS MY DREAM COME TRUE!! ... although ....=.= I would have preferred she got transported through something a little more romantic then her shower. Anyways, Elizabeth gets Amanda (the 21st century girls name) to go through the door and then slams it shut! This results in Elizabeth being stuck (by her own choice) in the 21st century and Amanda being stuck in the book. Personally I think Amanda gets the better trade.
Anyways I watched the entire 4 hour long mini series in one sitting =.= (and after that watched Emma with Gweneth Paltrow D : I'm a sucker for those types of movies!!!) I was probably motivated to watch it all because well... Mr. Darcy is sorta my dream guy ( but seriously...what girl doesn't find him attractive!?!? ... even if he IS fictional) and here he was on my laptop screen falling for Amanda who (although British and nothing like me in looks/character/anything really) was getting to live my dream scenario. *sigh* Mr. Darcy...why do you have to be a fictional character in a book!? Theres no chance of you even being reborn in the human realm giving me a chance to meet you!! ;c I'm going to be forced to settle for a person who's not a fragment of Jane Austen's imagination ... I wouldn't mind meeting Mr. Knightly from Emma either hohoho!!
You can watch the series
here. Consider your selves warned. D : If your like me...your going to find it addictive.
