Fashion Edition!
Now... I might not strike people as the holder of a zillion and two fashion tips and tricks but the truth is D : I spend waaay to much time on youtube and fashion blogs to not know at least something. My passion? Eye make-up! I <3 applying it, wearing it, looking at pictures/videos of it. Sadly :c I lack the funds to purchase all of the brushes and eye shadows that really work well and stay on your eye all day. (i.e - M.A.C ) No... I'm a Maybelline and no brander type of girl.
Same goes with clothes. I LOVE clothes but D : my parents only want me to spend my allowance on things I need so I have to use my own money on clothes...and I hardly ever work =.=. So whats the trick to looking good on a budget?? Read on!
Now the important thing to remember about eye make-up is that to get good at applying it...you have to practice. That means that if you have very little experience do not repeat DO NOT wait until 20 min before you have to leave for your big even before starting. Chances are you'll mess up and end up having to remove everything and go out to your big event with no make-up what so ever on your face. :c Believe me ... it can be enough to set you in a bad mood and ruin the evening, so set aside enough time or practice on days your not going out anywhere special. To inspire you to wear make-up I've got some pics for you all!

And an Asian girl for my Asian readers!

None of these girls are ugly with-out make up! I'm not saying that. My point is merely that their made-up versions are what popular culture and we through popular culture assume to be more attractive. Is it right? Technically yes because its hard wired into our brains ( or I should say guys brains) but is it fair to the millions of girls out there who just don't look like that? Nope not really. Big eyes, soft voice, good hip to waist to bust ration... these are all things that have been scientifically proven to attract guys on first impression. So can you blame a girl for wanting to ehem fake it if she doesn't have it naturally? Theres a reason why make-up of different sorts has popped up in almost all cultures over the span of human existence.
Now onto the interesting part ... the make-up itself!! If your like me... your not willing to spend a lot of money on fixing your face :c or a lot of time for that matter. You want to get in and get out! I'm going to go through the products one by one and show you what my cheap cheap make-up favorites are!
Skin Type-
Before you start applying foundation you need to know the type of skin type you are! Figure out your skin, accept it and apply the correct foundation! There are 4 types of skin types that you can fall under.
Dry Skin-
Usually people with dry skin are...well older. (Thats why older woman have all those night creams, day creams, in between dreams) Now the good thing about dry skin is that it usually doesn't break out... because there's no oil on your skin to clog your pours. The mad thing? :c Foundation can end up looking really quite bad if you don't pick the right one. What is the right one? : D A moisturizing foundation! Not all foundations will SAY if they're moisturizing so you might have to ask for help from a make-up counter to get the right one ( for good foundation you really should invest a bit :c) Try to go for either a tinted moisturizer, liquid foundation, or a mousse.
Normal Skin -
Normal skin isn't too oily or too dry and you usually only get a few outbreaks here and there. It's really the most easy to work with skin because it tends to be even and not have dry patches in some areas and oily in others. Basically with normal skin you can use liquid foundations, tinted foundations, mousses, creams, and cream to powders. Basically and foundation you get your hands on will work on your skin.
Oily Skin -
Now if you have oily skin your probobly already fighting a constant battle against break-outs and looking shiny. If you have oily skin you really really really need to find the right foundation! And you need to apply it on your face and let it sit for a little while and re-check the color in relation to the rest of your body. Oily skin can actually darken foundation so you need to go through a bit of trial and error before you find one that either 1. wont change color or 2. changes color to your natural skin shade. Look for oil-free foundations in cream to power, or powder form.
Combination Skin-
If you have combination skin ,you have some oily spots and some dry spots. D : Depending on if your skin is more oily or more dry... you might want to go with the foundation types i suggested for those (and remember the oily skin thing -.- you don't want to be darker in some parts of your face) or you can try applying a moisturizer to the dry spots before applying a water-based liquid foundation to your face.
Foundation - (remember to wash, tone, and moisturizer your skin first!!) Now unless you have really bad skin... you really don't need to wear foundation on a regular basis. Reserve it for special occasions only! Singapore is a freakin' hot place D : and unless you have the amazing ability to not sweat at all... just skip the foundation.
If however you want to wear foundation (Or there that special occasion is said its ok to wear foundation too) we'll go over just a few types of foundations (Side Note- D : this is going to be a really long post.....I think ill have to cut it into smaller bigs and pieces)
I'm not going to go over the "2-way cake" foundation. Personally I'm not a big fan of it AT ALL because it tends to either 1. make you look like you have a powder mask on or 2. makes you skin too perfect looking aka dead. The trick to good make-up is to make it look as though you don't have anything on your skin!
My two personal favorite foundations types are liquid foundation and tinted moisturizer. (Iida told me to mention that I'm sorry the picture of the foundation looks like poop.)

Liquid foundation is easy to apply with anything from brushes to sponges to even your hands (just make sure to wash your hands with soap before and after). Same goes for tinted moisturizers. Really the only difference between the two is that liquid foundation gives you much more coverage so its better for an evening out while a tinted moisturizer is better for day time use.
Now, if you don't want to spend money on getting two different types of foundations, you can easily make your own tinted moisturizer by putting a little bit of liquid foundation on the back of your hand and mixing it with your moisturizer. Applying to your face and set with powder (always set your foundation with translucent powder! It'll make it last longer.) and your set to go!
Next time ... We'll talk eyes!
