I had nothing to blog about but then...
the God of Blog decided I deserved some blog material!!! : D : D : D I really 100 percent feel my good blog karma is the direct result of me spending the day smiling at random people and holding doors for them. So lesson learned?? Be nice to people and you'll have something to blog about!!
So Iida and I were on our way home from Plaza Sing when low and behold I saw my first Indian man, Western Girl couple!!! I did a double take to make sure I'd really seen this very rare sight and yes...yes... I had. ( I tried to google for a picture and I couldn't find one -.- thats how rare it is)
Don't get me wrong I'm all for the inter racial couples its just not very often that the girl is the western one and the guy the Asian one. And its very very rare to see a teenage girl with an Indian guy who has one of those mustaches I like to call the "caterpillar mustache". You know... just a little bit of some very very fuzzy stuff in a completely straight line. (Please if your reading my blog and you have one of those...shave it off. Right now..get up..and shave it off)
Anywho the couple reminded me and Iida of a conversation we'd had the week before about why you see so many western guy/asian girl couples than western girl/asian guy couples. Personally I think it boils down to two things. 1. personality and 2. height
As a rule western girls tend to be a little more...well you know, untraditional when it comes to how we act. I'm not saying we're skanky or anything (... ok sometimes we are :c ) I'm just saying that in our culture sexual equality is viewed differently then it is in Asian cultures. Take the very very basic example of clearing a room of junk. In Asia, the guys do all of the heavy work vs in the West where guys girls and who ever would be lifting the heavy stuff. The men don't have to take care of the women. That means that us Western girls are a bit more independent. (Obviously there are exceptions to this but I'm just saying that in general it seems to be like this)
Factor in the fact that Asian men tend to be a bit more boyish vs manly and its easier to see why the personalities might not mix and match so well.
Obviously this doesn't really apply to Asian girl/western guy couples. In fact many western men prefer Asian girls exactly for the reasons that Asian guys don't really mesh with us. Men tend to want a gf they can look after and yada yada and thats sorta hard to do when your girl friend keeps insisting she doesnt want/need to be lorded over.
The second thing is height. I'm not gonna lie... I'm 99 percent sure I would never date a guy shorter than me and that most girls would agree. Sadly for us Western girls..we're just taller! Take a look at these average heights
Singapore- Men -
| 170.6 cm (5' 7.2") The average Singaporean man is about the same height as I am.

Women- 160 cm (5' 3") And the average Singaporean girl is at least 7.62 cm shorter than me.
Malaysia- Men- 164.7 cm (5' 4.8") The average Malaysian man is waaaay shorter than me.
Woman - 153.3 cm (5' 0.4") And if I stand next to a Malay woman... I'll look like a giant.
Compared with
U.S (White Americans) - Men- 178.9 cm (5' 10.4") <---a good 7.62 cm taller than the average Singaporean man.
Women- 164.8 cm (5' 4.9") <-- sadly I have yet to meet a Western girl in Singapore whos this short.
Height just isn't in either the western girls or Asian guys favor. It is however working very nicely for the average Asian girl who comes across as very small and cute and the western man who comes across as strong and manly. =.= Basically... they complement each other.
In other news I saw a Bangala construction worker wearing the green SBM camp t-shirt.
